The idea of a “Good Life for All” is an ideal that resonates globally, yet its realization is deeply shaped by historical, cultural, and geopolitical contexts. For many, especially those in the Global South, the pursuit of a good life cannot be separated from the legacies of colonialism, imperialism, and systemic inequality. The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while offering a universal framework for addressing global challenges, require a critical lens that takes into account the historical and ongoing power dynamics that shape development. In addition to a (critical) review of the SDGs, we also want to take time in this seminar to develop seminar topics for the year 2026.
