Many global crises and problems have not arised arbitrarily, but are rooted in the era of imperial colonialism that has played a crucial role in forming the word order of today. Wars, hunger and poverty continue to be fueled by the world powers‘ struggles for geo-resources and for economic and ideological hegemonies. At the same time, development institutions proclaim that international partnerships can only have sustainable impact if they are set on equal footing. But what does the reality look like? And with the global power asymmetries given – how should Cooperation in Development be shaped? Let’s visit the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in Berlin and get to the bottom of this!
